The Program
The primary aims of the fellowship program are to prepare psychologists to function effectively in integrated primary care settings as behavioral health providers and to develop advanced competency in the primary care behavioral health model.
Swedish Medical Group aims to train and retain high quality clinical psychologists with particular emphasis on population health and commitment to health equity. The program also provides fellows with the opportunity to develop competency in clinical health psychology through rotations in medical specialties. Finally, the program aims to provide opportunities to develop leadership skills through supervision opportunities, expansion of behavioral health to new clinics, community engagement, and program development/implementation.

Funding
Initial seed funding for the development of our postdoctoral fellowship program was provided by the Community Health Investment Plan. We have proudly created a sustainable model, in which the postdoctoral fellows bill under the license of their supervisor, thus allowing for a sustainable program, competitive pay, and supervision of charge capturing preparing our fellows for independent licensure. Additionally, generous community donors continue to provide financial support for the training program funding through the Swedish Foundation with the goals to improve access to, and resources for, those affected by mental health and substance use conditions in our community.
